FWS, the French Wine Scholar™ educational program, is the most advanced, comprehensive and up-to-date French wine course available. This program unique in PARIS takes a regional approach, covering all French wine appellations and the factors that shape their identity.
The program offers students engaged in the wine business an unparalleled set of study tools, designed to maximize learning and enhance knowledge retention.
The French Wine Scholar study and certification program confers a post-nominal to wine professionals and enthusiasts who pass the certification exam. It’s a valuable resource and complement for wine students. Move on to advanced general wine studies programs, such as WSET Diploma, Master of Wine, Court of Master Sommeliers, Advanced Sommelier (and more) or Certified Wine Educator.
The Study Guide will be sent to your home address to help you prepare.

module 1 . Identify all the factors (natural and human) involved in wine production, learn about the grape varieties grown in France and analyze the cultural, geographical and technical differences between Europe and the New World.

- The wine market and current trends
- All PDOs: their specifications, wine styles and special features
module 3. Preserving and serving French wines in optimal conditions
- Be able to recommend wines and explain the reasons for your choice.
- Explain how to store and serve wine correctly.
- Identify the most common wine defects.
- Identify the main elements to consider when recommending a food and wine pairing
- State the health and social risks associated with excessive wine consumption.

PREREQUISITES
- Although not a prerequisite, we recommend that students pass at least the lower level course of one of these organizations (WSET 2 in wine, sommelier, etc.) before entering the FWS program.
- Be of legal age.
- Be able to read and understand the FWS Brochure file.

Certification validation
- 100-question MCQ in 60 min
- 75% of answers must be correct to validate the diploma.
Copies are sent and corrected in the USA. Results are sent to your home address at least 3 weeks later.
Candidates who fail the exam may retake it at a later session, at an additional cost due to exam registration.
