The hotel housekeeper’s job

The housekeeper is responsible for the daily upkeep of all hotel rooms and common areas. She manages, animates and controls her department, ensuring the comfort and well-being of both French and foreign customers.

The housekeeper is first and foremost a manager: she is in charge of a team whose functions contribute to the reputation and notoriety of an establishment. In fact, she must be able to handle her department of chambermaids and linen maids with tact and firmness. Fluency in foreign languages is always appreciated, especially in establishments with international clientele. The housekeeper must be available and diplomatic in a world where the customer is king.

Her main qualities are organization and diplomacy, as the housekeeper has to get several teams to work together and be obeyed. She must have a sense of responsibility, customer service and perfection.
